Who doesn't love a good story? It is one of those time-tested ways of getting a message from one person to another. This form of passing-down has been going on since the beginning of time.
In today's world we feel pressure to say everything and show everything with all the forms of social media available. People just don't have time to listen to a long winded story, they want facts and they want them fast! Sometimes it's not even facts they want, any rubbish will do!
But does this work? Story telling is the most effective way to relay meaning from one person to the other. A good story will capture someone's attention, engage their emotions and allow the receiver to understand the message being told.
Do you have a good story waiting to be told? Inspire parents and grandparents this holiday period to create a lasting family keepsake that will be treasured for generations to come.
OK where to start? Make a time and stick to it. Using the Anthologie Life Story Memory Kit, set aside a regular time for example 1-2 hours every morning. Or alternatively have a deadline and work backwards (like a significant birthday).
Recognise that working on the Life Story Memory Kit involves all kinds of things like interviewing relatives, collecting photo's, reading old papers and just compiling all of this into a logical order.
Remember to include the funny bits too! Everyone loves to hear some humour, even if at the time it didn't seem that funny, looking back now you can sometimes see the funny side which makes for a great read.
Everyone's experiences are unique, so not every question may fit your circumstances perfectly. Feel free to modify the question or write your own one.
Most of all, have fun! This journal is a personal way for you to share facts and experiences that may not of been told before and share the wisdom that has been gained. Family and friends who read this will cherish it for years to come.
